Greetings Teachers!

WaterCan believes that there is an urgent need to educate students about the importance of water, and to impart the critical need to manage this most precious (yet under-appreciated) natural resource. We believe that by teaching youth about the importance of water, both in Canada and around the world, they will become better informed and involved global citizens.

H2Oh! is a Learning series through which students, teachers and other interested groups can access educational resources that explore key water and sanitation issues and solutions as they relate to Canada and the developing world.  We understand that teaching requirements are tight, class sizes are large, and time is at a premium, so the activities are straightforward and curriculum specific!  Teachers, teaching students or teaching professionals, develop all the lessons and the H2Oh! seal - found on each activity - assures that they have been approved by a Teacher Committee for curriculum specific content and ease of use.

The materials on this site include games, experiments, handouts, and fact sheets that are ready for use in the classroom.

To complement lesson plans, WaterCan has produced a variety of materials on water and sanitation issues in developing countries that can be downloaded or sent to you, free of charge.

WaterCan also feels strongly that these activities should be available in French, so, as funding allows, we will translate them for download.  ***If you are interested in translating activities free of charge, please contact the WaterCan office!

The H2Oh! activities are the educational component of our Clean Water for Schools program  - an initiative that directly addresses the desperate need to improve water and sanitation conditions common to many schools in Africa. The Clean Water for Schools program offers youth the opportunity to fundraise towards projects that will bring clean drinking water, sanitation and better health to African school children.  To learn more click here.
