“The Race For Water”

Over 150 WaterCan supporters joined Margaret Trudeau at the Rideau Carleton Raceway on Friday, October 3rd for “The Race For Water”, a fundraising event for WaterCan. The evening included a fabulous dinner, 15 live races and a raffle with wonderful prizes.

Guests dined at tables overlooking the racetrack in the Finish-Line Dining Room, which featured a buffet with over 100 items from which to choose. While enjoying their dinner, guests watched and bet on the races, having received a $2.00 betting voucher as part of their ticket package. Many also used their $5.00 slot token coupons in the Casino at the Rideau Carleton Raceway.

The races stirred up great excitement with the crowd standing up to cheer on their favourites. Three of the evening’s races were sponsored by WaterCan supporters: J.L. Richards & Associates Limited, The Co-operators - Ryan & Ryan Inc., and McGarry Family Chapels. Following their designated races, sponsors were invited to the Presentation Circle, where the winning horse was presented with a “cooler” blanket emblazoned with the sponsor’s and WaterCan’s logos. As well, the sponsor and their guests were invited to ride in the “pace car” for the next race – a thrilling experience! WaterCan extends great thanks to these three companies for their support.

If Lady Luck didn’t come through at the track or the slot machines, WaterCan offered guests another chance at winning – with a fundraising raffle! Raffle ticket sales were fast and furious and five lucky winners walked away with excellent prizes, including restaurant certificates, fine wines, and sports packages.
