Scholls/Universities

WaterCan is pleased to offer two programs directed at youth who want to learn more about WaterCan and water issues and do something to help.

WaterCan@Universities is a chapter program for University students.  Since its inception in 2001  members have collectively raised an amazing $132,943 to help fund WaterCan's clean water and sanitation projects in eastern Africa!  The 2006-2007 group raised an amazing $44,800!  To learn more please visit:  http://www.watercan.com/university/index.shtml.

The Clean Water for Schools (CWFS) program encourages students to learn about global water issues and take action to help provide clean water and sanitation to students in African schools.  To learn more visit:  http://www.watercan.com/schools/index.shtml

CWFS Profile:

After a visit from WaterCan's Honorary President, Margaret Trudeau this past February, the students at Buchanan  Elementary School in Calgary, Alberta  were inspired to do their part to share in WaterCan’s vision of Clean Water for All!

During the celebrations surrounding World Water Day in March, Buchanan students studied various water issues, took swimming lessons, learned about water conservation and held their "Buzzed for Bucks"  event where three teachers, one parent, and seventeen students from this small but mighty school agreed to shave off all of their hair in support of clean water..

The event was a great success and this school of just over 100 students raised over $4200!  Buchanan students were rightfully very proud of their efforts and learned a great lesson  about the role they each play in the global community.

The following is a list of educational donations made between January 1, 2007 and June 1, 2007.  This list is refreshed quarterly.
