"In 2008 I went to Ethiopia to meet my little brothers, and I saw how many people were drinking dirty water that was full of bacteria. I really wanted to help the kids in Ethiopia get clean safe water so they won't get sick. When I decided to start fundraising, I looked for organizations to work with and WaterCan was very helpful and I like the work they are doing."
"My main goal is to raise $8000 to help build a clean well in Ethiopia. I am raising money by selling colourful stainless steel water bottles with the logo I designed, "H2O for Ethiopia." I am selling the bottles from my Facebook page and also in my community. I have sold over 400 water bottles.
I returned to Ethiopia in 2010 and I brought back coffee and scarves that I also sold to raise money. When I was in Ethiopia I was able to visit some local projects that help children and saw that there are many, many families who need help getting clean water. I also got to help my Dad, who is a doctor, when he gave medical check-ups to kids. Kids in Ethiopia can get sick from drinking the dirty water. They also get parasites that can make them malnourished. Clean water can solve many health problems. I have raised $6000 for WaterCan and hope to meet my goal by the end of the summer. I also try to tell everyone I meet about my project and the need for clean water in Ethiopia."
