What You Can Do

Planned Giving

Life Insurance Gifts

You can make a planned gift by naming WaterCan as the owner and/or beneficiary of a life insurance policy.  A gift of life insurance is separate from your estate and has no effect on its assets. The premiums you pay may qualify for a tax credit during your lifetime, or at time of death, subject to how you plan your estate.  If the ownership of the policy is transferred to WaterCan during your lifetime, you may also be able to receive a tax credit for the cash surrender value of the policy.

Benefits of Life Insurance gifts include:

  • WaterCan will receive a significant gift, which you may not have been able to make in other circumstances.

If you are considering gifting your life insurance to WaterCan, your financial advisor, life insurance agent and lawyer can assist you with this.

A charity you can trust:

expenditures

In the 2007-2008 fiscal year WaterCan spent 81% of all expenditures on programming. This means that your donation goes a long way in supporting local poverty eradication efforts through the provision of clean water and basic sanitation to those who need it most.
